talking about my term paper---2.Brokeback Venus

BrokebackVenus and its replicas are famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. Originally named as "Aphrodite of Melos" and commonly known as the "Venus de Milo" or "BrokebackVenus", the sculptured was created by Alexandria. Her arms are incomplete, but still demonstrating feminine - specific curves, looked dignified and charming.

There is a beautiful story of Venus(it is searched from web.and I want to share with you):

Aphrodite was the goddess of love. The Romans called her Venus (hence the famous armless statue known as the Venus de Milo). Aphrodite lived on Mount Olympus with the other supreme deities and was married to the homely craftsman-god, Hephaestus. She was said to have been born from the foam of the sea (hence Botticelli's much-reproduced painting of the goddess floating on a seashell).
Aphrodite involved herself on several noteworthy occasions with the affairs of mortal heroes. When Jason asked permission of the king of Colchis to remove the Golden Fleece from the grove in which it hung, the king was clearly unwilling. So the goddess Hera, who sponsored Jason's quest, asked Aphrodite to intervene. The love goddess made the king's daughter Medea fall in love with Jason, and Medea proved instrumental in Jason's success.
Aphrodite can also be said to have caused the Trojan War. This came about in the following fashion. When the hero Peleus was married to the sea-nymph Thetis, all the gods were invited to the ceremony -- all but one that is. The slighted goddess happened to a specialist in sowing discord, so she maliciously deposited a golden apple on the banquet table. The fruit was inscribed with the legend, "For the fairest". Immediately all the goddesses began to argue about whose beauty entitled her to be the rightful possesor of this prize.
Finally it was decided to put the dispute to arbitration. Reasonably enough, the designated judge was to be the most handsome mortal in the world. This turned out to be a noble Trojan youth named Paris, who was serving as a shepherd at the time. So the three finalists -- Aphrodite, Hera and Athena -- sought him out in the meadow where he was tending his flocks.
Not content to leave the outcome to the judge's discernment, the three goddesses proceeded to offer bribes. Hera, Queen of Olympus, took Paris aside and told him she would help him rule the world. Athena, goddess of war, said she would make him victorious in battle. Aphrodite sized Paris up and decided he would be more impressed with the guaranteed love of the most beautiful woman in the world. This was Helen, who happened to be married to the king of Sparta.
Paris promptly awarded the golden apple to Aphrodite, who in turn enabled him to elope with Helen, who thenceforth became notorious as Helen of Troy. Helen's husband and his brother raised a Greek army to retrieve his wife, and this was the inception of the Trojan War.
Another occasion in which the goddess of love came to the aid of a mortal hero also happened to involve golden apples. When the mighty heroine Atalanta agreed to wed whatever suitor managed to best her in a foot race, Aphrodite favored one of the contestants with a peck of golden fruit. By strewing these enchanted apples on the race course, the young lad caused Atalanta to become distracted and she lost the race.

talking about my term paper---1.Humanist value

In the begining,I don't understand what the Hunmanist value is .So,when I chose this topic to write,I start to think about it.From the face of this word,it's look like a kind of value.Actrally,It is a branch of human spirit.
Then, what is hunman spirit?I talk about it in my term paper,I said : "Human spirit generally refers to the spirit culture of human. The term "Human" was originated in the 14th  century European bourgeoisie of the Renaissance, the dominant ideology of Renaissance culture. Theological  doctrine is agenized by humanism. Humanism stresses the importance of human values, and praises  people’s  power. To promote respect for the independence personality of human, and to satisfy people's  desire, humanists think that human are equally created. "
Humanist value is explained to:"Humanist value is a kind of value expression; it contains history, culture, humanity, etc. It is an integral factor in the design aesthetics. The humanist value is in design, also under design aesthetics; it is an important aspect that must be focused on in today’s design. Since the 20th century, due to the advancement of technology, transportation and communication development, globalized trend becomes more and more obvious. At the same time, attempting to explore and retain specific nation's culture also becomes a trend. These phenomena happen after some countries went through the refinement of human values in traditional culture, and then using them reasonably in design."

In this modern times, everything with the shadow of hunmanist value.Even a pair of chopstick or a key ring.It is no longer a way to make more money that designers pay attention to hunmanist value in thire products. But hunmanist value is a necessity in design to a designer.I think it is a good thing.

The trip

To avert oversleep,I didn't sleep last night. When I backed to my room,I just lay down and soonly fell asleep..But it was a wonderflu day to me.Because of only half an hour late, we lost the opportunity to join the event Batik Fun Walk. Actually, even if we haven't join the Fun Walk, the route we walk to other two galleries was far beyond Fun Walk...
I shared my answers to Dr.Tan's questions below...

Question1: How do you feel now when you miss opportunity to join the even?
Answer1: Regret. Because of only half an hour late, missed a wonderful event. It tells us should develop a good time sense. Sometimes missed a small step, we missed a lot of things. Just like this morning, we missed a junction, have to around a big circle to make up.

Question2: How to apply the theory to mortify your feeling now?
Answer2: Even if we missed the event time makes us disappointed. We still can find other fun. Such as we see someone wears the Batik whole body around us, she makes us laughed. And at same time, we admire her courage. There are so many people coming and going. They come from different places and gather here. They chat with new friends and walking. Their happiness has infected me.

Question3: Which work do you like? Why?
Answer3:I like the work Arus di Taman Raub. Although I don’t know the meaning of the title, I am attracted by the color of this piece of abstract painting. Almost the whole painting is used the different levels of green color. Only appears two pieces pink color above the painting. Pink and green are in stark contrast. The contents of the painting looks like a green tunnel. I feel like I’m closing to natural step by step.

Question4: Which work you don’t like? Why?
Answer4: I don’t like the work named Bersemuka. I don’t like colorful, distorted faces. This is just out of my personal preference. For art, there are no absolute beauty and ugliness.

Question5: If you are a judge, what criteria or element that you want to look at the painting to choose the winner?
Answer5: My criteria of a art work are color balance, degree of color harmony, performance capability of theme, the cleanliness of the work and creative.

Understanding of lessons ---If everything is art...

I believe that if everything is art, there is no art in this world.
What is ugly? What is beauty? Why?What we use to define the arts? These seemingly simple questions, are not simple. The equilibrium point of ugly and beauty for everyone is different.Even for different places or times. So it is difficult to find a everlasting principle of beauty or ugly for one thing.(I don't know if you can understand what I mean...please forgive my poor English...)
However, beauty is set off by ugly.Perhaps without beauty, ugly can also become beauty.Between beauty and ugly, there are no absolute standards.
In society, a thing can be identified as beautiful by most people, maybe it can be as beautiful for the time being. Perhaps when the times and people's aesthetic standards changed ,the thing is no longer beautiful.Perhaps the thing becomes a rubbish from art...

Understanding of lessons ---When our life becomes more and more rich...

The rapid development of today's society, the times keep changing, our lives become more and more rich. We no longer run around to fill stomach. If anyone thought the design has changed. It also changing followed the footsteps of people's development.
Design originated in the primitive society. At that time, the design just to survive. For example, people designed  animal traps , houses and clothes. But now, people are no longer satisfied with basic living needs and began to care about beauty, the pursuit of spiritual fulfillment.Design elements have begun to slowly increase. It beyonded essential functional and contains the concept of aesthetic, emotion and Scientific etc.
Therefore,as a designer, we must have the consciousness that perceive new things. To keep up the trend of the times.

Understanding of lessons ---language

When Dr.Tan said :"Our mouth is the gun, the tongue is a bullet."Suddenly I realised that how powerful the language is!It enable us communicate in various places. We can also use language to make a living. When our thinking needs to be someone else to understand,we have to dependent on  language.By the same token,as a designer, we have to make  perfect elaboration for our products. So as to be understand by customers.Who says language is not a kind of art?
